Getting into town
Skopje Airport to city centre
Skopje International Airport (SKP) is 21 km southeast of the centre. There are three practical ways in — shuttle bus, official taxi, or a pre-booked transfer. Pick by what time you land and how much you're carrying.
Quick answer
Airport shuttle
Solo travellers, daytime arrivals
Usually 35–45 minutes
MKD 199 one way
The official airport FAQ currently lists V2V Transporter. Timetables are aligned with flights, but operators and stops can change: check the airport page on your travel day.
Official Airport Taxi
Late arrivals, families with luggage
~25 minutes
Official fixed-zone fare
Use only the numbered white airport taxis (1–65) outside arrivals. The airport says they operate 24/7 without a reservation; check the posted destination tariff before leaving.
Pre-booked Transfer
Groups, first-time visitors, late flights
~25 minutes
Mid-range, fixed
Driver waits with a name sign — worth it after a long journey. Book in advance.
Rental Car
Onward road trips
~25 minutes
Depends on rental
Only worth it if you plan to leave the city (Ohrid, Matka, wine country).
Airport shuttle: tickets, payment and stops
The operator page publishes a MKD 199 one-way fare. It says tickets are sold at the airport counter from 08:00–20:00 and on the bus, with payment by MKD cash or credit/debit card. Keep the fiscal receipt. Because both timetable and operator naming have changed, open the current page rather than copying a time into your plan.

Which stop or taxi destination?
- Old Bazaar / Stone Bridge
- Holiday Inn is the most useful published shuttle stop; check the walking route to your exact entrance.
- Macedonia Square
- Holiday Inn is usually the closest published stop, followed by a central walk. With heavy luggage, use a taxi to the hotel door.
- Debar Maalo
- No published shuttle stop is inside the neighbourhood. Continue from a city stop by licensed taxi or arrange direct airport transport.
Pick by arrival scenario
Landing after 23:30
Check the dated shuttle timetable before flying. If it does not match your arrival plus border and baggage time, use the numbered white airport taxi or a pre-booked transfer.
Two adults and two children
Compare the posted airport-taxi tariff with a pre-booked family vehicle. Confirm child-seat availability, luggage capacity and total price in writing.
Solo traveller in daytime
The shuttle is usually the simplest value choice when a departure follows your flight. Select the city stop before boarding and keep the hotel address offline.
Going directly to Ohrid
Do not automatically travel into central Skopje first. Compare a direct authorized taxi or transfer with rental-car terms and an onward intercity-bus plan.
Five-minute arrival checklist
- Save your hotel name and full address offline.
- Open the same-day shuttle timetable after landing.
- Use only white airport taxis numbered 1–65 if taking a taxi.
- Photograph or note the posted destination tariff before departure.
- Confirm card acceptance before the vehicle moves; keep MKD backup cash.
